Due to the pleated surface the dirt is perfectly enclosed and retained. The essential field of application is recommended especially in water having a high level of sediments because due to the folds of the cartridge even larger amounts of impurities can be absorbed.

A sediment filter can remove particles and sediments, impurities and dust from the water. It is often used as a prefilter to protect downstream systems of water treatment.
(Sediment filter, ceramic filter and activated carbon filter are not washable and therefore must be changed every 6 months (DIN 1988). To ensure a constant filtering efficiency the lifetime of the filter cartridge should not exceed 8000 L (depending on the quality of input water).
